Jordan Morris further cemented his club legend status with Seattle Sounders FC, scoring the opening goal in a 3-1 win against Minnesota United at Lumen Field on Saturday and making history in the process.
With an acrobatic finish in the 16th minute, Morris sent in his 73rd regular-season goal for the Rave Green, passing fellow Seattle legend Raúl RuidÃaz for the most in Sounders history.
The historic strike, his first since late April, follows Morris breaking RuidÃaz's all-time scoring record in March of last season.Â
Now, with 94 goals to his name across all competitions, Morris can add to the top of both lists as the Sounders fight for a fourth straight Audi MLS Cup Playoff berth in the remaining weeks of the regular season.
Schmetzer makes his mark
Morris was not the only Sounder to make history on Saturday night.
Longtime Seattle head coach Brian Schmetzer also wrote his name in the record books, becoming the third-fastest coach to reach 150+ wins in league history, doing so in just 334 games, behind legends Bruce Arena and Bob Bradley.
He's just the ninth coach in MLS history to reach the mark.
