Why did Claudio Reyna decided to leave New York City FC and become the sporting director at expansion Austin FC?
Calling the move a “no-brainer,” Reyna outlined his reasoning at his introductory press conference Tuesday.
“I think more than anything though, when you combine the the city of Austin and the leadership at Austin FC, for me it was very clear that this was the right decision for me to come here and lead this club,” Reyna said.
This “new adventure” for Reyna is one he said “ticks really every box,” when he combines an “incredible city” with an ambitious ownership group and a stadium and training facilities ready for Day One.
“The opportunities to be in a city that will have its first professional team in a major sport is exciting,” Reyna said.
