TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Roster Update
The Chicago Fire have picked up contract options for midfielders Micheal Azira, Jeremiah Gutjahr and Fabian Herbers, the club announced Monday. Further roster updates will be announced in the future.
Azira, 32, joined Chicago in August via trade from the Montreal Impact and made four appearances for his new club. Gutjahr, 22, signed a Homegrown contract ahead of the season starting. He made eight appearances in his rookie campaign. Herbers, 26, made 17 appearances in his first season with the club after joining from the Philadelphia Union last offseason.
Chicago now have 14 players under contract for 2020. Notable futures still to be decided include Aleksandar Katai, Nico Gaitan, Dax McCarty and CJ Sapong. The club currently have all three Designated Player slots open.
