Just days after announcing his retirement, former MLS and US national team player Charlie Davies was back at Gillette Stadium to take in the New England Revolution’s2-1 win over the Colorado Rapids in the club's home opener Saturday afternoon.

The former Revs forward joined the supporters, who chanted his name during the first half, and was then interviewed at halftime of the Revs broadcast.

Davies said returning to Gillette Stadium was “surreal,” recalling the Revs run to the 2014 MLS Cup final, and the win over the New York Red Bulls in the Eastern Conference Championship series, as the “ultimate memory” of his time in New England.

As for his next step, Davies said he is looking to “stay extremely close to the game.”

“The game means so much to me,” Davies said. “I’m looking to, obviously hopefully, be on camera a lot more and hopefully the business side of the sport. That really interests me and I’m hoping there will be a few opportunities that work out for me.”
