The Brian Fernandez era is upon us.
The Portland Timbers' club-record signing is expected to make his debut on Wednesday night when the Timbers face the Houston Dynamo (8:30 pm ET | MLS LIVE on ESPN+ in US, MLS LIVE on DAZN in Canada).
“He is eligible for this game,” head coach Gio Savarese told reporters. “If he’s traveling, I’m pretty sure we’re going to see something from him.”
The 24-year-old Fernandez had 18 goals and five assists across 32 appearances with Necaxa in Liga MX before joining Portland. The Argentinian signed officially on May 6, which wasn't in time for the paperwork to clear to make his debut on Friday against the Vancouver Whitecaps.
The Timbers lost 1-0, where they could have used his attacking spark. Will they get it against the Dynamo?
