Brek Shea "excited" to play against former club on Monday night

Brek Shea is Texas through and through. The Orlando City SC player grew up in College Station and was then drafted 2nd overall in the 2008 SuperDraft by FC Dallas. And now he's returning home for the first time as a visiting player.

The Texas-born left-footer is looking forward to Monday’s game at Dallas (9 pm ET; MLS LIVE), where he spent five seasons, scoring 19 goals in 98 appearances.

“I am really excited. It will be my first game there since I left,” he added. “That organization gave me a lot of opportunities. They helped me build who I am today and I owe a lot to that club.

“I still have a good few friends still there, so I will be excited to see them, be in that stadium and play against them. I think if you don’t have that fire and excitement to play against an old team, there’s something wrong.”

After five years in Dallas, Shea transferred to Stoke City in January 2013 where he made just three appearances. After loan stints with Barnsley and Birmingham City, Shea came back to MLS with Orlando City prior to the 2015 season.

Playing both as a left back and left winger, Shea has made 33 appearances over the past two seasons, scoring one goal and collecting five assists.
