TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Report
Defender Brad Smith, whose year-and-a-half-long loan with the Seattle Sounders culminated in winning the 2019 MLS Cup, is open to returning to English Premier League side Bournemouth.
But he says that hinges on if he's going to play for his club enough to remain in the Australia national team picture, he told the Australian Associated Press.
"The reason I pushed to go out on loan to a place where I could find game time and form was a big part of getting back into the Socceroos set-up," Smith told the AAP. "I missed being involved and watching all the games. I had a two-year break and I was just really eager because it's a dream come true for me every time I get called up to wear the shirt."
Smith added that he had other potential suitors for his services. He did not reveal whether the Sounders were one of those who might sign him to a permanent contract.
Smith has made 31 MLS appearances since arriving in the summer of 2018, and posted six assists over 25 games this season. He also played all four games in Seattle's MLS Cup run.
More recently, he went all 90 minutes Friday in Australia's 1-0 away win over Jordan in Asian World Cup Qualifying.
