With a goal forwards dream of scoring, Portland Timbers defender Bill Tuiloma has earned him AT&T Goal of the Week honors for Week 9.
Tuiloma peeled from the back post towards the top of the 18-yard box on a corner kick served by Diego Valeri, and with his body momentum steering him away from goal, swiveled his hips to unleash a full volley into the side netting.
The goal leveled the score for Portland against Toronto FC, a match the Timbers would go on to win. Three points for the club and GOTW for the center back – what more can you ask for?
It was a runaway victory for Tuiloma, as the New Zealand international won 75% of the vote. Another defender, the New York Red Bulls' Connor Lade, finished second with 10%. Tomas Martinez (6%), Shea Salinas (5%) and Wayne Rooney (4%) rounded out the ballot.
