He's done it again.
Portland Timbers midfielder Yimmi Chara won AT&T Goal of the Week honors in MLS Week 1 for his spectacular bicycle-kick finish during a 2-2 draw against the New England Revolution. It's the type of shot a player might hit once in their career if they're lucky.
But in Sunday's 1-1 Week 2 draw against LAFC at Banc of California Stadium, the 30-year-old Colombian got on his bike yet again, cashing home a strikingly similar golazo to open the scoring for the Timbers in the 18th minute. Watch it below:
"Another bicycle kick is phenomenal. The goals don’t always have to be so spectacular but when they do come that way, we are even happier," head coach Giovanni Savarese said after 10-man Portland gave up a last-gasp equalizer to Mamadou Fall deep into second-half stoppage time.
The odds of Chara finding two goals like this in a season, let alone in back-to-back weeks, have to be astronomical. The younger brother of legendary Timbers teammate Diego is off to a roaring start with the pair of highlight-reel goals and an assist through Portland's first two matches of the season.
Can he do it again in Week 3? We're hoping he gets a chance in Portland's next match, as they'll host red-hot Austin FC Saturday night at Providence Park (10 pm ET | MLS LIVE on ESPN+, DAZN in Canada).
