Bayern have plan for Davies: "You don’t park him at the reserves"

Bayern Munich has a plan for Alphonso Davies and it doesn't involve the reserve team.

Davies played his final game for the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sunday, notching a first-half brace for a perfect dismount from the club before joining Bayern. On Monday, Bayern head coach Niko Kovac revealed that the player will join the team after November's international break and begin training with the first team immediately.

"One thing is certain when you spend that much money on a player then you don’t park him at the reserves,” Kovac said.

Davies, 17, can't be registered until the Bundesliga transfer window opens on Jan. 1, so he won't be able to appear for his new club until the new year.

The 17-year-old enjoyed a breakout in season in MLS in 2018, with eight goals and 11 assists in 31 appearances. Davies joined the WFC Residency program on August 15, 2015, at age 14, marking the beginning of his fast ascent through the club’s ranks from the U-16 and U-18 sides, to Whitecaps FC 2 in USL, and a 2018 MLS All-Star selection within a span of three years.
