Atlanta United have picked up their first injury concern after their first day of training.
Defender Franco Escobar fractured his right clavicle on Tuesday and will be out 6-8 weeks, the club announced. The timeline seriously puts doubt over his availability for the club's Concacaf Champions League round of 16 matches against Herediano (Feb. 21 and Feb. 28) as well as their MLS season opener on March 3 against D.C. United (6 pm ET | ESPN).
Escobar, 23, appeared in 22 games in 2018 for the Five Stripes after joining from Newell's Old Boys ahead of the season's start. He was an integral part of the team's playoff run, culminating with an MLS Cup triumph, as he started all five matches and contributed two goals and an assist from defense.
