You can be sure that Josef Martinez is thinking about his injured teammate.
After scoring his 18th goal of the season to put Atlanta United up 2-0 on the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, the Venezuelan striker immediately ran to the sideline to drape a Miguel Almiron jersey over his head and kiss it.
Almiron, Atlanta’s star attacking midfielder, hurt his hamstring in Sunday’s 2-0 win over the Montreal Impact and will miss at least three weeks due to the the injury.
But early indications are that the red-hot Five Stripes will keep rolling without him as they dominated the Union in the first half behind goals from Martinez and rookie Julian Gressel.
