It was an ugly incident that culminated a forgettable season for Atlanta United. After a sending off for his second bookable offense in second-half stoppage time, Franco Escobar marched to the Columbus Crew SC bench and got into an altercation in the closing moments of a 2-1 Decision Day presented by AT&T defeat.
Why did Escobar lose his cool? The Argentine fullback took to Twitter to explain his outburst.
Escobar removed his jersey as left the field and returned to the Atlanta United locker room and then re-emerged after the final whistle to continue to voice his displeasure before being escorted away by Jeff Larentowicz.
