The fans have spoken, and the Week 15 AT&T Goal of the Week race goes to Atlanta United midfielder Brooks Lennon.
The midfielder lashed home a left-footed rocket to the top corner in Atlanta’s 4-0 win at D.C. United last Saturday. He also had two assists, marking his best performance with the Five Stripes since joining this past offseason from Real Salt Lake. Lennon earned 54.01% of the vote, topping the field in resounding fashion.
Second place went to Seattle Sounders midfielder Joao Paulo, who bounced home a shot just after halftime of their 3-1 win over Vancouver. The Brazilian’s second MLS goal garnered 23.28% of the vote, as he continues to lift the Western Conference leaders.
Inter Miami midfielder Lewis Morgan (10.10%) narrowly edged out San Jose Earthquakes left back Marcos Lopez (9.46%) for third place. Morgan one-timed home a right-footed curler in a 3-2 home loss against New York City FC, while Lopez launched a left-footed strike into the top corner after collecting a cross in a 2-1 win over Cali Clasico rivals LA Galaxy. Both were jaw-dropping finishes.
Last place went to Philadelphia Union striker Sergio Santos with 3.15% of the vote. The Brazilian bullied his way past several Toronto defenders in a 2-1 loss before delicately chipping over an onrushing Quentin Westberg.
