TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Trade
Atlanta United have acquired defensive midfielder Mo Adams from the Chicago Fire in exchange for $100,000 General Allocation Money (GAM), the clubs announced Wednesday.
Adams, 22, is in his second MLS season after being selected No. 10 overall in the 2018 SuperDraft. He made 15 appearances in his rookie season and another 10 this year, though has made just one appearance in the club's last eight matches.
“Mo is a talented young player with the ability to play multiple positions for us,” Atlanta VP and technical director Carlos Bocanegra said in a club statement. “We like his versatility and his competitiveness will serve us well moving into the second half of the season.”
The defense-minded midfielder will add to Atlanta's depth, though head coach Frank de Boer has said he can see the player fill in at fullback if need be. Adams will reunite with former Syracuse University teammate Miles Robinson in Atlanta.
Atlanta also placed Gordon Wild on waivers.
The Fire made it clear that they are not done dealing this window.
"This transaction was made with a design for another one this window,” Fire president and GM Nelson Rodrίguez said. “We wish Mo good luck.”
