One of the top strikers in the world was spotted at Crew SC training on Tuesday, but don’t hold your breath for a big signing, Columbus fans – Gonzalo Higuain was just visiting his brother.
The Argentina and Napoli forward remained in the US following his country’s heartbreaking loss to Chile in the Copa America Centenario final on Sunday night, heading to Ohio to see his older brother, 31-year-old Crew SC midfielder Federico Higuain.
The elder Higuain is currently recovering from hernia surgery and is expected to miss the next three to five weeks.
Gonzalo Higuain, 28, is coming off of an extremely successful year with Napoli, where he scored 36 times to help the club to a second-place finish in Serie A. His agent announced on Wednesday that he won’t be renewing his current contract, which is set to expire in 2018, at Napoli, triggering a potential bidding war for his services this summer. His contract reportedly has a buyout clause of £72 million.
