it wasn't his best game, but Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Andre Blake's outstanding save in the 24th minute against the Vancouver Whitecaps has earned him Save of the Week for Week 16.
With the scoreline tied at 1-1, Nicolas Mezquida picked up the ball 30 yards from goal and fired a shot at the Philadelphia goal. Blake made a leaping save to deny the Whitecaps attacker, preserving the even scoreline, though the Whitecaps would go on to win the game 3-2. This is the first time Blake has won Save of the Week this season.
Blake barely edged out Toronto FC goalkeeper Clint Irwin in the final round, taking home 51 percent of the vote. He beat out New England Revolution ‘keeper Brad Knighton and Montreal Impact backstop Evan Bush to advance to the final.
