Alphonso Davies has now scored twice in his last three Bundesliga games, as the Vancouver Whitecaps export tallied Bayern Munich’s fifth goal in a Saturday rout of Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Davies pounced on a loose ball atop the 18-yard box, powered past several defenders and passed home a right-footed effort in the 52nd minute for the 5-0 lead. It was the sort of quick-offense ability that the left back is developing a global reputation for.
The Canada men’s national team star previously had a goal and an assist in Bayern’s 5-2 route of Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend, and also impressed in their midweek 1-0 win over Borussia Dortmund.
At this rate, it’s almost expected that Davies will land on the scoresheet one way or another. Bayern are cruising atop the Bundesliga, and the 19-year-old’s meteoric rise has shown few signs of slowing down.
