On Alexi Lalas' State of the Union podcast, the former national team center defender and FOX soccer analyst took turns with co-host David Mosse in drafting their own starting XIs, with the aim of creating dream teams that combined the best men's and women's US national team players.
The rules were as follows:
- Lalas and Mosse each started by selecting a female player, then alternated with a male player for their second selection, then kept alternating women and men until reaching an 11-player lineup.
- No player could be selected twice, meaning 12 women's players and 10 men's players were selected overall. (Seems only fair, given the women's four World Cup titles.)
- Players must be selected to fit a 4-3-3 formation.
