We're now into the fourth week of our FIFA 20 MLS simulation and Week 6 of the 2020 MLS season. This time around, we have have an updated look at what the Eastern Conference and Western Conference standings could have looked like.
There were 13 matches scheduled across last Friday through Sunday, but those involving expansion sides Nashville SC and Inter Miami CF aren't included. Neither club is available for selection in FIFA 20, so you'll also see their respective Week 6 opponents, Seattle Sounders and Philadelphia Union, absent.
Columbus Crew SC vs. Toronto FC
Big games from Jozy Altidore and Alejandro Pozuelo saw Toronto take down Columbus, 4-1. Both players grabbed two goals, including an incredible free kick late on by Pozuelo. Toronto climbs to fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings, while the Crew drop to 11th.
Chicago Fire FC vs. New York Red Bulls
With their new logo finally in FIFA 20, Chicago faced the New York Red Bulls and emerged with a 4-2 win. CJ Sapong scored two late goals to break the 2-2 draw and secure all three points. RBNY continued their cold streak in FIFA 20, as they’re yet to win a game in our simulations.
D.C. United vs. NYCFC
NYCFC continued their virtual woes in FIFA 20, as they dropped yet another game. This one was especially heartbreaking, as center back Maxime Chanot deflected a cross into his own net to hand D.C. United a 2-1 win. It also cancelled out an impressive finish from winger Ismael Tajouri-Shradi.
LAFC vs. FC Dallas
LAFC remains undefeated in our FIFA 20 simulations after a 2-1 win over FC Dallas. Diego Rossi provided two goals on the road for the Black & Gold, showing why the Uruguayan forward is so highly rated on the international market. LAFC, the reigning Supporters’ Shield champions, are fifth in the Western Conference standings.
FC Cincinnati vs. Atlanta United
After losing to Atlanta United before MLS games were postponed, FC Cincinnati managed to secure a 3-1 win in this simulated match. New striker Jurgen Locadia picked up two late goals in front of the home crowd. Atlanta continues to miss Josef Martinez, but they still sit at third place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Houston Dynamo vs. Portland Timbers
Portland’s losing streak continues, as they dropped a 3-0 decision against Houston on the road. Mauro Manotas shined for the Dynamo in picking up two goals, giving Tab Ramos his first win as an MLS coach. With the 3-0 loss, Portland drops to ninth place in the Western Conference standings.
LA Galaxy vs. Sporting Kansas City
Only one strike was needed for the LA Galaxy to take down Sporting at home, as Jonathan dos Santos cooly finished a chance in the eight minute. It’s more frustration for Peter Vermes’ team, which dropped its fourth game of the year.
Minnesota United vs. San Jose Earthquakes
A battle between opposite teams in the Western Conference didn’t turn out well for the bottom side. Minnesota continues to cruise in FIFA 20, as they moved up to first place behind first-half goals from Osvaldo Alonso and Luis Amarilla during a 2-0 win. On the other hand, San Jose falls to 12th place with four points. They only beat out Nashville SC for last place since the expansion team isn’t yet in FIFA 20.
New England Revolution vs. Colorado Rapids
Two mid-table teams in their respective conferences entered looking for wins, and a Kei Kamara brace sent Colorado to a 2-0 win. New England falls to the 10th place in the Eastern Conference standings, while the Rapids vault up the Western Conference standings to fourth place.
Orlando City vs. Impact Montreal
Four different goalscorers sent Orlando City to a 4-2 win over the Montreal Impact. In our simulations, these Eastern Conference sides with new coaches are currently trending in opposite directions. Orlando occupies the top spot as Oscar Pareja works his magic, while Montreal drops to eight place under Thierry Henry.
Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs. Real Salt Lake
In our final FIFA 20 match of the weekend, the Whitecaps fell at home to Real Salt Lake, 1-0. Nick Besler volleyed home the game-winner in the 22nd minute, continuing their climb up the Western Conference standings.
Standings
The simulated standings see Orlando, Atlanta and Philadelphia all jockeying for position atop the Eastern Conference. Each team has 10 points through Week 6.
