Week 10 in the 2020 MLS season would have wrapped up on Sunday, bringing an action-packed slate of games to a close. But with the COVID-19 pandemic keeping things on pause, another version of our FIFA 20 simulations are here.
Check out the full video, commentary and standings rundown below.
Montreal Impact vs. Orlando City SC
This was an important Eastern Conference clash, with Orlando looking to advance to first place and Montreal searching for a playoff spot. The Impact scored twice in the first half, and then Benji Michel found a late equalizer for Orlando during the 2-2 draw.
Columbus Crew SC vs. Minnesota United
Minnesota remains almost unstoppable, and this time they secured a 1-0 win over the Crew during a midweek contest. Kevin Molino provided the lone goal in the 29th minute with an open-net finish.
Toronto FC vs. New England Revolution
New England scored the only one goal, which was enough to secure three points on the road. Gustavo Bou tallied during the 1-0 victory, putting the club in good form going into their weekend match against NYCFC.
San Jose Earthquakes vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC
One of the first 0-0 draws during our FIFA simulations arrives via this match between San Jose and Vancouver. There’s not much to say, but you fans out West wouldn’t have missed much judging by the result FIFA gave us.
Toronto FC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC
Four different goalscorers helped Toronto avenge their midweek loss, as they stormed past Vancouver, 4-0. Erickson Gallardo got things rolling in the 11th minute, and then Patrick Mullins capped them off in the 90th minute.
Portland Timbers vs. LA Galaxy
The LA Galaxy have been hit-or-miss during the FIFA simulations, but they look to be back on track after picking up a win against Portland. Giancarlo Gonzalez’s header in first-half stoppage time was enough for the 2-1 victory at Providence Park.
Seattle Sounders vs. D.C. United
Seattle stormed to a 3-1 win over D.C. United, sending home fans at CenturyLink Field with delight. Ola Kamara got the visitors on the scoresheet, but a Miguel Ibarra strike in the 39th minute stood as the game-winner.
New England Revolution vs. New York City FC
A brace for Jesus Medina gives NYCFC hope, as they’re slowly climbing out of the bottom of the Eastern Conference. The FIFA simulations haven’t been kind to the Cityzens, but this 3-0 thumping of New England shows what they’re capable of as we push towards the middle of the season.
New York Red Bulls vs. Columbus Crew SC
A battle between the Eastern Conference’s bottom two teams ended in a 1-1 draw after Pedro Santos cancelled out a Brian White opener. Columbus and the Red Bulls have struggled, with just three wins combined in 18 matches played.
Philadelphia Union vs. FC Cincinnati
The Union remain the team to beat in the Eastern Conference following a 2-0 win over FC Cincinnati, which was capped by a long-range Ilsinho screamer. FC Cincy would've moved up to third place in the East with a win, but instead they drop to fifth.
Minnesota United vs. Colorado Rapids
Minnesota wins yet again, as they remain the only team in MLS without a loss to their name. This time, a 90th-minute strike from Robin Lod gave them a 1-0 win over Colorado.
FC Dallas vs. Chicago Fire FC
Michael Barrios and Zdenek Ondrasek provided the goalscoring for FC Dallas in a 2-0 victory over the Chicago Fire. Ondrasek remains one of the league's top strikers during the FIFA simulations, and has helped drive FCD to fourth place in the Western Conference.
LAFC vs. Sporting Kansas City
An early goal from the head of Ilie Sanchez was all as Sporting KC needed to steal three points on the road against LAFC. The club’s fourth win of the season, this one by a 1-0 scoreline, has them fighting for a playoff spot.
Atlanta United vs. Real Salt Lake
Atlanta have been tough to figure out during our FIFA simulations, and then they fell 2-1 at home against RSL after Damir Kreilach’s late game-winner. They drop to sixth place in the East, but with multiple games in hand could easily skyrocket up the standings.
Houston Dynamo vs. San Jose Earthquakes
The final match of the weekend was a 1-1 draw thanks to a stunning volley from Houston winger Memo Rodriguez. Two clubs at the bottom of the Western Conference remain there, as neither could gain an advantage.
