Sporting Kansas City and Real Salt Lake were previously scheduled to face off in an MLS Week 5 match which was postponed due to the suspension caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak. Midfielder Wan Kuzain (Sporting KC) and goalkeeper David Ochoa (RSL) made up for it with a live-streamed, two-legged FIFA 20 matchup.
Both players made heavy use of their go-to forwards, as Kuzain scored a flurry of goals with SKC star striker Alan Pulido and Ochoa bagged three with Designated Player Sam Johnson, but in the end Kuzain's dynamic virtual attacking skills proved to be the difference in the series that was broadcast on Twitch.
It was Ochoa who jumped on top just five minutes into the 1st leg, courtesy of a finish from Giuseppe Rossi. But Kuzain responded with four unanswered -- goals by Felipe Gutierrez, Pulido, Johnny Russell and a Justen Glad own goal -- on his way to a 5-2 first-leg win.
Kuzain continued the onslaught in Leg 2, scoring an early goal with his own EA FIFA likeness in the 3rd minute and adding another with Roger Espinoza in the 7th minute to extend the aggregate advantage to 7-2. He eventually prevailed 4-3 in the second leg and claimed the series 9-5 on aggregate.
